Solos, Duos and Graceful are for students wanting to compete at a high skill level. Competitions are held early in the year between March and June and are determined by age.

Training generally commences in Term 4 however when you start will be at the discretion of the coach. Please be aware that students wishing to participate in solos/duos are required to have achieved a certain Pupil Skill exam level, please refer to the Pupil Skills section to review minimum age requirements.

Competing in solos, duos and gracefuls is in addition to club work and all pupils wanting to participate in solos, duos and graceful must also show complete commitment and dedication to their teamwork. Undertaking a solo or duo work can be an excellent opportunity to further develop a student's skills and exposure to additional coaching techniques, though the workload, pressure and commitment (both in terms of finances and time) is considerable and should not be overlooked when assessing if your daughter is ready for this additional challenge. Please understand costs involved can be estimated to be around $1,000 - $1,400 per item by the time you pay for hall hire, coaches fees, costumes, travel and accommodation if required and competition registrations.

The State Championships is run by volunteers, each club is assigned a number of duties according to the number of pupils competing, therefore, the more pupils Rosemore enters, the more duties we are required to fill.  It is an expectation that if your daughter is competing in a solo, duo or graceful, you make yourself available to volunteer during the State Championships, and this may require you to assist on a different day to when your child is competing.

Approaching a coach outside of Rosemore is absolutely fine and there are some coaches in QLD that do specialise in the coaching of solo, duo and gracefuls, however, if you would like to work with one of the Rosemore coaches then we do ask that you please fill in the details and submit this no later than September 12th.

Please don’t approach our coaches directly. If you are interested in your daughter performing a solo, duo or graceful please complete this form and we will assist you in setting up a coach.

We can’t always guarantee you your first preference of coach however we will endeavour to set you up with a qualified and suitable coach. Once you are working with a coach, coaching fees, training dates and times, hall hire and costumes are generally organised individually by you and your coach.
